Building Homes, Building Futures
Across Greater Vancouver, Indigenous Nations are leading the way in real estate development, building homes, community centres, and infrastructure that support the health and well-being of their people. These projects aren’t just about housing—they’re about creating lasting change and reclaiming space.
At Warrior Plumbing, we’re proud to be part of this movement, helping build and maintain healthy, sustainable homes while uplifting Indigenous communities, and especially the Youth, through meaningful careers in the trades as service plumbers. Here’s why the profession is a great choice for Youth seeking a solid career path:
Where Purpose Meets Opportunity
Becoming a service plumber means more than just fixing pipes. It means being the person who shows up when something goes wrong and makes it right. It means creating comfort, safety, and function for families and communities. At Warrior Plumbing, we specialize in residential plumbing services and Indigenous-led housing developments. Our team works on purpose-driven projects that have real impact, and we’re looking for Indigenous Youth who want to be part of something bigger.
Making a Real Difference on the Ground
At Warrior Plumbing, this work isn’t theoretical; we’re already building the future, quite literally. Our team is currently on-site with Tsleil-Waututh Nation and BC Housing Society, helping construct 50 beautiful new homes to welcome TWN members back to their ancestral community. These are more than houses — they represent reconnection, security, and pride.
We also recently completed Lupine Village, a major TWN development in partnership with Aquilini Development. Projects like these show Indigenous-led development in action, and Warrior is proud to play a hands-on role, ensuring the plumbing systems in these homes are built for health, sustainability, and long-term comfort.
This is the kind of work that’s waiting for Indigenous Youth ready to make a difference — building with purpose, in their own communities, for generations to come.
What Makes a Great Service Plumber?
If you like solving problems, working with your hands, and meeting new people, this might be the career for you. Our top service plumbers are mechanically inclined, remain calm under pressure, and are friendly and respectful with customers, enjoying variety in their workday. No two days are the same, and that’s part of the appeal. You get to build and fix things that matter—and see the results of your hard work every day.
Training That Sets You Up for Success
To become a certified plumber in British Columbia, you’ll need to go through a Red Seal apprenticeship program. This typically takes 4 years and includes both on-the-job training and classroom learning. The good news? You can start without prior experience. Warrior Plumbing actively hires Indigenous apprentices and supports them through the entire journey. What you do need a lot of is….motivation and a great attitude; the rest can be taught!
Here are two excellent places to start:
• BCIT School of Construction and the Environment: www.bcit.ca/construction
• Squamish Nation Trades Centre: www.squamish.net/trades-centre
From Apprentice to Entrepreneur
A first-year apprentice can expect to earn between $20–$25 per hour, with wages increasing each year, depending on meeting education and training milestones. Certified Red Seal plumbers often earn $35–$45+ per hour, with opportunities to move into project management or even start their own plumbing business. It’s a career with options and long-term stability.
And here’s the kicker—plumbing is recession-proof. Whether the economy is booming or slowing down, people still need working bathrooms, clean water, and safe homes. It’s a career that AI can’t replace.
